Google Apps disruption

We are experiencing a disruption with Google Apps.  It involves contacts and the chat.  Google is aware of the problem and is working to fix it.  2009-09-24 11:30 am

Clicking on an email address in Firefox

Since our switch to Google Apps, clicking on a email address in Firefox didn't really do anything useful.   It would open a new message in Outlook not in your Google Apps email account.

Starting this week, we have updated Seminary computers so when you click on an email address in Firefox it goes to your Google Apps mailbox.  We are happy to have this feature available since it will save everyone on campus from having to copy an email address from a web page and pasting it into a new email message.

Luther Seminary Internet Connections

Getting reliable Internet service at Luther Seminary had been an issue for a long time.  We went through many years of bandwidth drought.  We did all kinds of tricks with whatever Internet connections we could muster just to get by.   It was not a good situation for anyone at the Seminary.

Last year we made a great leap forward by connecting our first fiber optic connection to the Internet.  We now have a reliable connection with enough bandwidth to meet our needs.

This year I am excited to announce that we have added a second fiber optic connection to the Internet.  This second connection will add redundancy as well as added capacity.

We are excited about this important update for the Seminary, even if it is invisible.
