October is a beautiful month on the Luther Seminary campus. We are settling into classes, enjoying this year's especially fine weather, and celebrating theological librarianship. We look forward to hosting our annual Open House in the Rare Book Room on Thursday, October 28. We'll also have treats in the 3rd Floor Lounge.
Put aside some time that day to visit and view the artifacts from the Lutheran Orient Mission Society's work in Kurdistan. LOMS celebrated 100 years of service on September 27. LOMS missionaries were involved in educating Kurdish children, literacy, and helping Kurdish women make a living. According to The Story, "the work of this group continues today under the name Lutheran Mideast Development."
We will have on display some of the interesting grammars and hymnals created by the LOMS missionaries. Learn how Gudhart, von der Schulenburg, Edman, Wee and Fossum made a difference over the last 100 years.
